Here is the latest KS1 display in our shared area. It depicts a huge advent wreath, created from the hand prints of each child, to depict how important it is to be together and to think of others at this special time of year.
Advent marks the start of the Christian year. It is the four weeks before Christmas. This is the time for Christians to prepare for celebration of the birth of Jesus and look forward to the time that Jesus will come again.
Each of our classes also have an Advent wreath on display on our prayer tables. These have been made from a circle of evergreen plants like holly and ivy which symbolise God with no beginning or end. The evergreen is a reminder that God does not change. The holly is also a symbol of the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified. Four candles are fixed round the circle. Each week we light a different candle and think about each of the following themes – Hope, Peace, Love and Joy.
