Mrs Tyler’s summer holiday so far

I have been away camping and sailing this summer. First we visited Lundy Island off the North Devon coast. Mr Tyler sailed there in a very small sailing dinghy but I chose to go on a ferry. It was very hot and sunny there and I swam in the sea with lots of jellyfish!!!! ….and the water was freezing cold too!!!  Mr Tyler was lucky enough to see  seals and dolphins whilst he was sailing. Then we spent a few days in North Devon and enjoyed a delicious cream tea!  Unfortunately the sea was still freezing cold when we went swimming.  The tide went out such a long way too.

Our holiday continued with a sailing trip.  We had planned to sail to Weymouth but the wind and the weather were all wrong, so instead we sailed to some places on the Isle of Wight and then on to Poole Harbour, and then up a windy river to Wareham.  Some days it was wet and windy and some days it was warm and sunny.  We stayed in some busy marinas (which are like car parks for boats), at anchor somewhere quiet or on a mooring buoy.

One morning we woke up early to find four seals swimming around our boat!  That  must have been the reason why Mr Tyler didn’t catch any fish!  We ate lots of bacon sandwiches and even had a cream tea on board the boat!  We saw lots of fireworks in Wareham and Poole Town Quay and it was lovely bobbing about watching the lights over the water.

When we got the boat back home to Hayling Island and I climbed ashore, my legs were all wobbly because I had got so used to balancing on the boat.  We were a little bit sad to leave the boat, but now I’m excited to see the new Neptune Class and all the teachers again.  See you all soon!
